I was born at a time when there were no Internet, cell phones, or computers, and when air travel was something that only the rich could afford. The only telephones we had were rotary dial and long-distance calls could cost a week's wages.
I am a licensed ham radio operator. My first radio was all vacuum tube with the exception of one transistor. Solid-state electronics were rare in those days and the only computers that existed were in the hands of the Federal Government and cost hundreds of millions of dollars. The Eniac computer was all vacuum tubes, gave off a tremendous amount of heat, took up as much room as a house and consumed very large quantities of electrical power to run, yet any smart phone today has more computing power than the Eniac had.
This is a fulfillment of Biblical prophecy:
Dan 12:4 But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Growing up in this hectic period of technical advancement has not been easy for a man of my age. I have tried to keep up with the steady advances in technology but have never had any formal training in computers. All that I know, I had to learn on the fly.
Today, ham radio has advanced to the point that all digital communication over the ionosphere has replaced voice communication. The programs used to transmit and receive these digitized means of communication are becoming ever more complex. Just loading the programs can consume hours of time and adjusting the presets for the downloaded program can consume weeks even months of frustration trying to get them to function. When I had reached the end of my rope, trying to get a program to work, or a computer to function correctly, I tried to find a computer guru who could help me get these systems talking to each other correctly and doing what they are supposed to do.
I contacted several supposed computer specialists for assistance, but all of them refused to help me, stating that these ham radio programs were beta versions, and that they would not even attempt to get them up and running. Then Sheila at Ozark Tech Services came to town. To my pleasant surprise, she was able to resolve all of my problems. I think God called her from birth and endowed her with the ability to help His people in this complicated computer age. May God's blessing be upon her. She knows how to do it, or she will learn how to do it. She is very organized and efficient, and her prices are honest and fair. May God bless her in her ability to keep His people's computers running in this often-confusing age of technical complexity.
